Hi, I’m Aby Garvey, the organizing and productivity expert here at simplify 101. In 2004, I left the corporate world to pursue my lifelong dream of running my own business. I started simplify 101, a professional organizing company that marries two of my favorite things—organizing and helping people create meaningful change in their lives.
As a wife, mother and business owner, I know how important it is to your family’s well being (not to mention, your own sanity) that you have a home and schedule that works for you and your entire family. I feel like the luckiest person alive because I get to do something I truly love—all while working with wonderful clients who are creating positive change in their lives. I’m honored by the trust they put in me and the way we work together to create incredible results. And what’s even better is the fact that Jay, my husband, is living out his dream in simplify 101, too. Want to meet him?
Hi, I’m Jay Garvey. As Aby mentioned, simplify 101 is a dream come true for me, too. Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t get as excited as Aby about organizing, and if I never reorganize our basement for the rest of my life, that’d be just fine with me. But I do find tremendous value in being organized. (Maybe you and I have a little bit in common?) You see, when I met Aby, my “filing system” was chronological, with my oldest papers at the bottom and the newest at the top of each stack. My claim was that I knew where everything was—and I did. It was in one of those stacks of papers! But knowing where something is and getting to it quickly are two different things. Aby helped me simplify things and now my daily life is so much easier—I can even see my desktop!
So, you may be asking yourself, what exactly is it that I do at simplify 101. Good question! I handle many of the things that go on “behind the scenes.” In my former work life, I was an electronics engineer—that makes me the “techie one” here. Our online store, online workshop system, email systems, etc., all fall in my bucket. I’m Jennifer McClure, marketing+content coordinator for simplify 101. I’m also a wife and a mother of two gorgeous girls, striving to stay on top of it all and enjoy all that I am blessed with! Some days I’ve got a good groove…everyone gets where they need to be on time and we even come home to a clean house! Some days I am a total mess of a mom…completely forgetting to send in the green jelly beans and sign the proper form. But most of the time I am somewhere in the middle. I love finding new ways to bring order to what can be a pretty chaotic life, so of course I jumped at the chance to work with simplify 101. (Well, honestly, who wouldn’t??) It’s a place where I can use my background in marketing communications alongside my passion for living a simpler, fuller life. I’m excited to work with simplify 101 where great ideas are born and shared on a daily basis!
I’m Maggie Garvey, the real brains behind this operation. A minimalist by nature, I take the idea of simplifying to a whole new level. I find that not much is required to live a very full life—a soft place to sleep, fresh water, healthy food, an occasional treat, long walks, and most importantly, people to love. Here at simplify 101, I enjoy serving as the greeter, foot warmer, security guard and crumb catcher, but my deepest satisfaction comes from setting an example for the people I work with. They are fairly intelligent for humans, and I am proud of the way they learn from my examples of living simply and happily. I hope they are able to share some of my lessons with you!
