I’d love to hear how everyone is doing with the 28 day challenge. If you’re just finding out about the challenge, go here to learn what it’s all about and join in. Please feel free to join any time—we’d love to have you along for the fun! And whether you’re just joining in, or you’ve been here since the beginning, give yourself permission to do this challenge at your own pace. Pick those areas of your home that are most troubling to you, and make progress on them. Take action every day that you can, but if life happens and you have to miss a day or two, just come back to it the very next day you can. This isn’t an all or nothing proposition. This is about making progress when you can and making your home better before the holidays arrive. Let us know how you’re doing. I’d love to hear from you!

28 Day Organizing Challenge

Day 13:  Clean the Trash Cans + Recycling Containers

Okay, so today’s challenge is anything but glamorous. Today’s challenge is to clean the trash cans and recycle bins. Woohoo, right? Okay, not really. This isn’t a fun or pretty job, but it is one you’ll be really happy to know is done when guests are in your home later this month or next. It seems that people always have something to throw away when they’re visiting…like napkins or the packaging from the snacks they brought to share. So won’t it feel good to know that your trash cans are clean and sparkling?

When the weather is nice, I like to take my trash cans outside and wash them with the hose. But this time of year, the bathtub and some dish soap does the trick just fine. Either way, having this job out of the way before the guests arrive, will allow you to focus on the more fun aspects of holiday preparations…like, well, just about anything.

Happy cleaning!
