Oh my goodness! Busy, busy week. Hope you had a great week! Thank you all so much for your help in my prior post. Here’s the update on the summer fun.
The circus. Check. Fabulous again this year.
Catching fire flies. Check. Check. And check.
Cardinal’s game. Check. They lost but it was still great fun.
Race for the cure. Check. So much more I’d love to say about this. In a word: (completely) inspiring.
Vacation plans. In process. Hope to post my travel planner very soon. (It’s a scrapbook / travel planner combo… at least it is in my mind. We’ll see how it turns out.) I’ll share pics soon.
Thanks for all the recommendations on Seattle hot spots … super excited about that leg of the trip in particular. Look where I’m staying. My friend lives there. (Don’t tell her … but I might just decide to move in.)
Flip flops and cotton skirts. Check.
Organizing my closet. It’s confirmed. I purged too deep. Jay has even commented on how empty my side of the closet is. Which could be a good thing when it comes time to fill it back up.
Speaking of filling it back up, have you heard the definition of insanity? Here it is, courtesy of Benjamin Franklin:
“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”
Why I thought the tank tops from Old Navy would look any better on me this week than they did last week is still a mystery…and proof that I’m insane.
But there is hope, thanks to all of you. This book and this one are on the way…so maybe the insanity and emptiness (closet emptiness in case I’m not the only one getting lost in this post) will come to an end soon. (Although the books seem to be on the slow boat to Edwardsville … so perhaps I should make a trip to the library this weekend for the other book you recommended.)
Ice-cream cones. Check. Uh … maybe that helps to explain the insanity. Ha 😉
OK … off to organize my trip…which is only two weeks away…which clearly means my books better get here soon!!!!!! (Or I’m packing a big bottle of Tide so while I’m away I can repeatedly wash the very few garments that survived the great closet purge!)
Could you come purge my closet? I have 7 years of pre- and post-maternity clothes all mashed in with everything else (including stuff I probably haven’t worn in 7 years). I don’t want it empty – just emptier . . .
Cool hotel for your trip – thanks for sharing!
We travel a lot as a family and a wise friend told me that for a longer trip, the magic number is 4. Pack for 4 days, no matter how long you are going. You and your family members will re-wear most things, unlike at home where it is too easy to plop it into the hamper barely worn. DO take the small bottle of Tide, esp. if you’re at a hotel. Wash out smelly swim suits from the beach, dinner accidents on shirts, or underwear. OK, I do usually take twice as much underwear for everyone. Try it and let me know if this works for you!
I am in need of the closet purge too. My closet isn’t too bad, I do go through and purge clothes every so often, it’s getting over the idea that I’m not going to get back into those smaller sizes that I need to deal with. Two babies really makes an impact on what’s going to fit and what’s never going to fit again.
By the way, we just found out we won a gift certificate in a hospital foundation lottery, which means I can get the stuff I need to organize the kids’ toyroom, without having to pay for it!!! Gotta love that!!!
Sweetie, I am so jealous that you get to go to my Pacific Northwest. Yes, I am a transplant to Illinois from the Puget Sound. Can I tell you how much I miss it. I MISS IT. I hated the rain while I lived there but, these cold, cold winters and hot humid summers have me longing to go back.
I have been able to get back to my home town city in Oregon the last two years but haven’t made it to my wonderful Emerald City. Say hello and take in all the wonderful sites for me. Be sure to take a Ferry ride across to Bainbridge Island.
Sounds like a fun weekend. If you need to clean your closet even further, a good solution to closet clutter that I use is commercial storage. I put my off-season clothes in my storage unit and have so much more room to work with. Give it a try.
