Happy Monday my friends! I hope you had a great weekend. Mine was one of those that kind of took on a life of its own. Let’s just say not everything went according to plan, but some things did get done. Here’s the update:
Play List:
- Boot Camp. Check!
- Get together with friends. We went to a trivia night—our first one—and had a great time. Lots of fun.
- Go to Kailea’s basketball game. Check!
Okay…so far so good, but here’s where things started to get dicey.
To Finish:
- Laundry. What I discovered was that doing a load a day during the week, didn’t lead to as much laundry breathing room over the weekend as I had anticipated. Darn! I sort of thought it would be easy to get to empty laundry basket status on Sunday since I had done so much during the week. Instead, I discovered that wasn’t the case. So now I need to decide if I’m okay with laundry not being caught up every Sunday. Maybe I’ll pick a different day in the middle of the week as my empty hamper day. I’ll keep you posted on this exciting development…
- Continue with paper projects in my office. Nope. This one didn’t happen…
- Calcium research. Yep. I put together a little calcium tracker form so I can keep track of how much I get calcium I get each day. I also did some basic research to get a feel for which foods have how much calcium, and added this to my little form. All that’s left to do now is eat a whole lotta yogurt and cheese every day. 😉
- Check out mint.com. First, much thanks to everyone who shared comments and recommendations on mint and other solutions. I really appreciate your thoughts and comments. Second, this task is the one that kind of unraveled the rest of the weekend. Here’s what happened. I wanted to download the iPad ap for mint and discovered it requires ios5, so I needed to upgrade. Well…that didn’t exactly go so well as I lost my aps and some data. Most of this can be restored, since luckily my iPad is new and there isn’t much on it. But the biggest loss was all of my lists on Remember the Milk. (Note to self, next time make sure everything is synced before upgrading operating systems!) So my time was spent doing the upgrade and freaking out that my lists were lost, as opposed to actually checking out mint.
- Attend a basketball meeting. Check!
- Plan weekly meals. Check!
- Research paint for “new” chairs. Well, I brought home a can of spray paint and decided it isn’t the right color. So…back to the store I will go.
- Pinterest to-do: Make Martha’s tub scrub. Okay…this was the big hit of the weekend. This tub scrub really works! This was truly one of the highlights of my weekend. (Which I do realize is kind of sad, but it really made my tub so white and clean! And I really like it when things work.)
So there you have it, my Monday check-in. How did your weekend go? Thanks so much for joining me this weekend! See you back here on Friday. 🙂
I completely changed my plans for Sunday because the weather was 54 and warm along with I was feeling good for a change. Called bf and made a trip to the outlets for some girlfriend fun.

I do wash during the week so I don’t have tons to do on the weekend. I figured it frees up some weekend time. I always have 2 loads by the weekend but it’s better than 5 or 6 at a time. One thing can have the snowball effect, sorry you had trouble with the computer. I’m going to have to print the recipe for the tub and try it. I’m looking for something to clean our shower stall. Thanks for sharing. Hope you have a great week.
Aby, I am so sorry that your weekend didn’t go as planned. What a bummer with the iPad…glad you didn’t lose too much, but I know how hard you’d worked with the Remember the Milk app 🙁
My weekend took on a life of its own too, but in a more pleasant way. I’ve been shopping for a new point & shoot camera and found the one I wanted. It was available online at Amazon.com, but also on sale at Best Buy. My dear husband convinced me that it was worth the drive to have the camera in hand, and he was right! I’ve got everything set up and am really looking forward to playing with it. Plus I got my Project Life supplies.
I’ll be interested to hear what you decide about the laundry. I have a hybrid approach. I do a few loads here and there during the week (mostly towels), but I also have two days during the week where I try to get it all done. The hampers aren’t empty for long, but it’s nice when they are!!!
Dottie – it’s good to hear that you’re feeling better and glad you got to have some fun this weekend.

evening all ~ I’ve used a similar mix to the bath tub recipe for cleaning the PVC window frames and white goods in our house. leaves a lovely smell.
so our weekend was exhausting… baby and I’d just spent a little over a week on our own and worked hard at keeping to a routine in order to survive, and then with friends visiting it all went heywire.

* baby swimming on Sunday again… hubby now home so it’s his turn to take her and I hope to get a lie in at last! ~ cancelled as he came home with a bad virus infection which we’re now all trying to fight off 🙁
to do
* laundry ~ hubby unpacked a week’s worth this morning, starting catch up this evening ~ check. but now have plenty of bedlinen to put into the machine. Aby I never have an empty basket but am happy if there is only a small amount in the bottom ~ that counts as done as it’s just waiting for more to make up a full load.
* send thank you notes for a few baby gifts that came in this week ~ oops still to do
* grocery shopping order online for delivery early next week ~ done and waiting for delivery right now

Since my weekend was half over when I posted this wasn’t too hard – all got done 😉
To Do:
Menu planning
vacuum
Order gift for brother’s bday
mail two cards
Play:
out to friend’s tonight with family
Church tomorrow – Son is serving for the first time
Celebrate my bday tomorrow
Go to brother’s for a party
As for laundry – I do a load a night, some times two if I am home and don’t have Zumba class or another commitment. But always a load a day. It may not empty my basket (which is a pipe dream as they are only empty a few hours before we change and clothes are there LOL), but it sure keeps it from piling up. I can manage 1-3 loads any given day but not four or more. Love just one a day because it keeps it managable, reduces stress, and lets me get it all done AND put away before the next day begins.
I wasn’t as successful as I wanted to be with my list this weekend. But, oh well – at least we had fun!
To Play:
1. Watch my kids play basketball, soccer and volleyball! Always fun! – Check!
2. Play with friends Saturday night after my son’s basketball game. – Check!
To Finish:
1. Paint the laundry room so we can install counter top and finish it up! – The color that we picked was all wrong! So, we had to go back and find some new choices. Came home with several trial size cans of paint and I think have settled on the right grey! That project will have to move to next weekend!
2. Laundry. – Check.
3. Finish paperwork for work. – Moving that one to Monday.
4. Pay bills and clean up budget. – Never even got close – this really needs to get done before February 1st. Here’s keeping my fingers crossed!
Can’t wait for next weekend and another opportunity to stay accountable!
Hi Aby. I was just checking your blog after posting to FB about your upcoming Paper Clutter course. I gush about the course to many folks so I hope it gets some more students your way from northern Alberta. I feel your pain about RTM! My phone fell in the sink and thankfully works again, but I worried about not having the quick RTM app on hand. Having it on the computer just isn’t as efficient (although that will coming in handy to do some overhauling and deleting of the repeated items I’ve forgotten to view.)
I just noticed your Mint interest and I haven’t seen your past posts yet. Has anyone mentioned YNAB? You Need A Budget. They have great video tutorials, and use the evelope system to plan your spending, not simply track it after the fact. Curious to hear your reviews. Take care
Here is the site I found with a helpful review of budget programs

*watch son’s basketball game – check…he played the entire game!
*celebrate grandmother/great-grandmother’s 101st birthday!!! – check…just amazing to know how well she’s doing at this age!
To Do:
*laundry – mostly folding & put away along w/a load of towels – check…finished up on Mon.
*clean – spot cleaning…the deep clean will be next weekend! – check
*make progress on Org 101 class – didn’t get to this, unfortunately…@ the top of the list for this week, though
*shopping/returns – need to spend my Kohl’s Cash! – check
*menu plan/grocery shop – did the planning on Sun. & shopped on Mon.
*update kids’ school & activity calendars – check…wow, we’ve got a busy schedule!
*catch up on paperwork – planning for this weekend’s charity event has caused me to fall behind – did a little, but will need to put more time in this week
Oops…forgot to add that this was my 1st Finish it Friday post. I really liked how accountable it made me feel. I definitely got more accomplished than had I not gone “public” with my list!
Thanks, Lisamarie for your comments on the paper clutter workshop – so glad you enjoyed it! And thanks for the info on YNAB.
Kate, I’m so glad you enjoyed your first Finish it Friday! I look forward to seeing you again on Friday!
Nice job everyone!!!
