Lots of anticipation is in the air today…
- Putting the finishing touches on Christmas preparations…running a few final errands and getting ready to wrap (my favorite part.)
- Grandma Suzi, my Mom, is en-route via train from Michigan. (Hooray!)
- Enjoying my newest adventure in crafting…knitting. Finally taught myself how to do this, thanks to giving Kailea this book for her birthday. This is such a fun thing to do with my girl…I’m loving it.
- Enjoying quiet time with my family, watching Christmas specials, football and Food TV, with a fire crackling in the fireplace.
I love this place where we are right now…just a few days before Christmas, relaxing, and just enjoying the anticipation.
I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend, too. Are you ready for the big holiday? How are you spending your time in these final days before the holidays?
I too have recently taken up knitting again after a long break, to knit for my grandchild coming in May. My 19-year-old son returned home from a camp with a new skill and passion for knitting. He and his friends have been busy knitting squares to make blankets for the homeless. And my 23-year-old nephew knits to enhance his fine motor skills for his studies/career as a surgeon. Knitting is hip again!
Welcome to the dark side Aby! I LOVE knitting with Grace – it’s such a fun thing we can do together.
And as for the waiting… it’s hard – but we’ve been filling our time with preparing the house (and Grace’s room!) for the new addition. It looks like we’ll travel at the end of January 🙂

I’ve been ready for awhile now….just anticipation now. My daughters & niece painted ornaments yesterday. And my girls are still painting stuff today, they ran out of ornaments, but I have a counter full of painted paper. Got a fire going since it’s -30C here in Alberta(that’s -22F for my American friends).
We are catching up on play dates (for my 7 year old) we keep intending to have. I have a light group of children in my daycare home this week. All the kids home from school, 16 year old has been working. She has the day off today. We hope to do some baking before we have the family (both sides) over for Christmas Eve.
So there is some final cleaning to do as well:) Glad I cleaned out my fridge and freezer the other day… even though didn’t want to. Thanks for the goal that day!
I’m not a knitter, but my brother learned several years ago with my 2 sisters. I really lacked the patience for something like that. I tried crochet when my first was born. I tried… and it was so sad.
Aby, I so love that you’re knitting. I hope you love it as much as I do!
I’m spending my pre-holiday time trying to finish up some knitted gifts (thankfully, people don’t usually mind waiting for handknittted stuff), tying up loose ends and eagerly anticipating my favorite week of the year, the week between Christmas and New Years.
Enjoy!
Have a very merry and peaceful Christmas Aby. Oh, how I would love to be in your “place” right now! Our weather has played havoc on my holiday preparations. It’s snowing again and we have over 12 inches accumilation! Braving the weather to see one patient and one last trip to the store and then I am homebound.
You ALMOST make me want to attempt knitting again. I tried it once long ago and it was just not my niche at the time.
At last! It is Christmas Eve! I decided to forego the cookie baking this year. My son and I made Christmas cupcakes last weekend (and were selfish enough to eat them all!). Today we had some carolers and I did feel momentarily bad that I had no cookies to give them. Do you think they’ll take an Oreo next time?
I will be baking a Pumpkin Pie today per my hubby’s request.
Other than that, the next few days will be consumed with cleaning, laundry, packing, church service and family time!
Merry Christmas!

OMG, you are knitting!! That is awesome! Now you can tell all us readers how to organize our hordes of yarn. 🙂 What did you pick for your first project and where did you get the yarn? HEIDI
