homemade hot chocolate

Anyone have a good recipe? MsKL asked in a prior post and, well, I’m a pre-made hot chocolate kind of girl. My favorite is Target’s Archer Farms Milk Chocolate hot cocoa mix. Yum! (Loaded with lots of marshmallows of course.) Would love to find a good decaf hot chocolate mix, too. So…if you have a good homemade recipe or know of a good decaf hot chocolate, would love to hear from you!

Thanks!

Thank you for posting the question for me! And for you, Hershey’s Goodnight Kisses (milk chocolate) and Goodnight Hugs (white chocolate) are 99.9% caffeine free. Yummy, too! I was recently informed that Ghirardelli is wonderful, espcially when made with milk. YUM!

My favorite pre-made brand is hands down Stephen’s Gourmet Hot Cocoa. (ANY FLAVOR!) I have a good recipe too, but I have to go find it.

As far as bought hot cocoa – I love Ghirardelli’s. For homemade hot cocoa – my daughter and I love the rich chocolate taste of Matt’s hot cocoa recipe: http://ideamatt.blogspot.com/2005/04/how-to-make-ultimate-cup-of-hot.html
And we use Ghirahelli chocolate usually for that or endangered species chocolate.

No recipe, but my tip to make any cup of hot chocolate *extra special* is a splash of Peppermint Schnapps! That’ll warm you up!

This is a “Jamie Oliver” recipe. Take hot milk and put it in a flask. Shake it up for a minute or so ( check the top is on tight first ), to froth up the milk. Place cadbury’s hot chocolate powder into a mug,and add sugar to taste. Throw in a few marshmallows. Pour the shaken milk over the top, wait a couple of minutes for them to start to melt and enjoy….best eaten with a spoon! Its delicious :)

I love the one on the side of the Hersey’s Cocoa tin. You know, the unsweetened stuff you bake with. It is SO easy and SO yummy!!! You’ll never go back to the stuff in the envelopes!!!give it a try!!!

Yep, Stevens is best for premade. :) I think there is a good hot chocolate recipe in the good old Betty Crocker red and white cookbook.
