simplify 101 Spring 2015 Organize-athon begins April 17, 2015

Last fall when I accepted a 40 hour per week contract job, I knew my life was about to become busier than ever. It took some serious orchestration to fit everything into my new schedule – my new job, simplify 101, family time, running, volunteering, plus all the normal household and life stuff. This new juggling act gave me a greater appreciation for having an organized home. I realized at a deeper level that an organized home is the foundation for making day-to-day living easier, from getting out of the door in the morning to making dinner in the evening. And yet, maintaining this foundation is trickier now that my time is more limited. (Maybe you can relate?)

For me, the weekend is now the best time to tackle organizing projects such as seasonal closet organizing, tidying up the pantry, reorganizing the laundry room, and tackling the storage room in the basement. I don’t mind dedicating some of my weekend time to creating more order in my home because I know how much it pays me back all week long.

My most recent weekend organizing project (a major decluttering of our basement storage room) inspired me to create a new online event – simplify 101’s first ever Organize-athon! This is an idea I’ve had percolating in my mind for literally years, and the time is now right to bring it to life. I’m super excited about this event because it addresses so many of the barriers that keep people blocked from getting organized.

Do any of these scenarios sound familiar?

I struggle to find the time or motivation to get organized. If your life is jam-packed with responsibilities and to-dos, it can be tricky to carve out time for organizing. But the Organize-athon gives you the perfect excuse! You’ll block out time during a set weekend to focus on one big organizing project or a few small ones. (The choice is yours.) What’s more, you get to decide how much time you want to spend organizing that weekend. (It doesn’t have to be all or nothing.) Best yet,  I’ll be there every step of the way to help you get motivated and move past whatever keeps you stuck.

Whenever I try to organize, I feel like I’m doing something wrong. I can help with that, too! Let’s talk about it in the event’s private forum. I’ll help you pinpoint exactly what’s going on and give you solutions so you can move forward with confidence.

I really want to get organized, but I just don’t know where to start. Before the event begins, you’ll get tips and ideas for selecting the right starting project for you. Getting started has never been easier!

I struggle with decision making. If you have a hard time making decisions while decluttering, I’ve got you covered there, too. Just come on out to the private forum during the event, and let us know what’s going on. We’ll help you think through the tricky decisions so you can move forward in a way that’s just right for you.

I’ve taken a simplify 101 online class and still have some lingering tasks to finish up. Maybe you have a lingering question, or you got stuck somewhere along the way. The Organize-athon is the perfect way to get unstuck and finish that project once and for all!

I miss hanging out with your simplify 101 online friends. I can relate! The Organize-athon is a chance for all of us to reconnect and catch up. It’ll be like an online class reunion.

Sound fun? Great – I thought so, too! So here’s a quick overview of the event. Or get the full scoop on simplify 101’s Organize-athon.

When is it?

  • The Organize-athon officially begins Friday, April 17th at 6:00 p.m. (CST) and runs through Sunday, April 19th, 2015 at 9:00 p.m. (CST). ** Enrollment for this event will close on Saturday, April 18th.
  • Kickoff materials will be shared a week before the event begins, on Friday April 10th, giving you time to get ready for the Organize-athon festivities the following weekend.
  • Click here for a complete schedule of events.

How does it work?

  • The Organize-athon will be hosted in simplify 101’s online class system. Event participants will gain access to a private area on our website that will house event materials and a private forum.
  • On the Friday before the event, you’ll get tips and ideas to help you figure your Organize-athon project (or projects). When the Organize-athon begins, you’ll get additional info to make it simple to make progress on your project. Our goal is to keep this info quick and easy so you spend your weekend organizing instead of reading. Throughout the event weekend I’ll be there to answer your questions and help you stay motivated.
  • The best part is this: you pick your project and you get to decide how much time you want to spend on organizing during the event. If you have something going on Sunday afternoon, no worries. Work on your project Saturday. You don’t have to be busy the entire weekend. But, if you want to be, you’re certainly welcome to.
