Jennifer and I have been working on a fun new blog series that I’m super excited to introduce today!

Fabulous 15 Minute Organizing Fixes: a blog series from simplify 101

That’s right! We’ve put together a collection fast and fabulous organizing fixes. These projects are like little organizing appetizers, just enough to whet your appetite for order and give you your organizing “fix” for the week. If you organize more for necessity than for fun (that’s okay, we love you, too), then these little projects are perfect for you. They’re designed to fix common little problems around the home, and each little project will take around fifteen minutes to put into action, give or take. This means, you can get your organizing fix even when you’re short on time. Sound fun? We thought so, too. 🙂 So let’s get right to our first organizing fix.

Our first organizing fix is one you may have seen before if you’re a regular in my online classes. The idea behind this organizing quickie is to make it faster and easier to do all of your organizing projects, from fifteen minute fixes to more involved organizational overhauls. Want to know what it is? Okay…our first Fabulous 15 Minute Organizing Fix is to create an organizing toolkit.

Make all your organizing projects easier by setting up an organizing toolkit.

To do this project all you have to do is collect a few simple organizing supplies from around the house and corral them into a handled container. If you don’t have a handled container, or some of the items on the list, simply grab a box, bin or shopping bag and corral together what you do have. Then, add to your toolkit as you go, such as when you need a specific item for a project you’re working on. Consider the following items for your organizing toolkit:

  • Stock an organizing toolkit with supplies to make organizing projects even easier.Handled container — this could be a plastic bucket, a canvas bag with pockets, or a toolbox.
  • Trash bags
  • Zipper top bags
  • Small containers for sorting and/or storage — plastic cups, plastic bowls, muffin tins, etc.
  • Labeling supplies — label maker, Sharpies, tags, ribbon, sticky notes.
  • Pen and notepad or clipboard
  • Cleaning supplies — dust cloths, cleaning sprays, a small broom and dustpan, etc.
  • Tape measure
  • Timer — to keep track of your 15-minute organizing sessions.
  • Rubber bands
  • Camera — for before and after photos.

That’s all there is to it! A quick little organizing fix that will make all of your future organizing projects a notch faster and simpler. Be sure to check back next Thursday for our next Fabulous 15 Minute Organizing Fix!

Happy organizing!
