Let me ask you a question. What’s the first thing that pops into your mind when you hear the word limits? Is it deprivation? Not having enough? Feeling confined or restricted? Whatever words you chose, I’d be willing to bet the thought that popped into your mind had negative connotations.

But we can look at limits differently. Limits can be a handy tool that keeps you in your comfort zone. When you stop and think about it, it is often a lack of limits that make us uncomfortable, not the other way around.

During the holidays it’s easy to feel tempted to push yourself out of your comfort zone. But wouldn’t it feel so much better if you set some limits and stay in your comfort zone?

  • Wouldn’t it feel better to eat Thanksgiving dinner so your pants stay comfortable (and don’t feel too tight when you’re done?)
  • Wouldn’t it feel better to shop for holiday gifts so your budget stays comfortable and you don’t feel the stress of overspending?
  • Wouldn’t it feel better to schedule your holiday events so you feel in control, instead of stretching yourself too thin?

Remember, limits don’t represent deprivation, they represent comfort. This holiday season remember to enjoy the comfort of limits.
