Everyone who has ever called me was in some way out of his or her comfort zone. Some aspect of their home or life wasn’t working for them. So what you’re feeling is perfectly normal. Go ahead and call. I’d love to help you feel better and get you back into your comfort zone as quickly as possible.

My goal when working with you is to relieve you of any negative feelings—embarrassment, stress, anxiety, frustration, etc.—that you may have about your situation. Everyone has times in their lives when they get behind and need a little help digging out. I’ll work with you to understand your needs and life style. I developed the “simplify 101 organizing process” to help my clients navigate through their chaotic homes and lives and create the results they desire. The process starts by clarifying your goals for making change. Step by step the process leads you to achieving your goals and ultimately celebrating your accomplishment!

The decision about what stays and goes is completely up to you. By helping you clarify your goals for getting organized at the onset of the process, you will be able to make decisions that support your priorities. You may find you no longer need or want certain belongings. Or it may be very possible to accomplish your goals without getting rid of much by simply utilizing your space better.

simplify 101 offers several services to help you get more organized: a free monthly newsletter, an organizing planning session, in-home organizing services, and organizing coaching. Whichever route you choose, I will help you prioritize your goals, develop a plan for achieving them, and together we'll create the organized home and life you desire.

The organizing planning session is the first step in my process and can be conducted in your home or via phone. The planning session helps you pin-point your organizing goals and obstacles you've encountered in the past. This is the step of the process where you'll move from overwhelmed to excited! Together we'll develop an organizing game plan that's well suited for you, your lifestyle and your organizing goals. Plus, you'll learn the simplify 101 organizing process. At the end of this planning process, you'll be armed with a plan, a process, and ideas you can implement on your own or with my help. If you decide you'd like to partner with me there are two options:  organizing coaching or in-home organizing.

Organizing coaching services are a terrific option for you if you live outside of my service area (the St. Louis metro area) or if you prefer to do the hands-on organizing yourself. After we develop an organizing plan (either in your home or via phone), we'll work together to set short term goals for your organizing projects and help you stay motivated throughout the process. You'll have me there to cheer you on and answer all of your organizing questions throughout the process. This service is also available as a maintenance program for hands-on organizing clients.

An in-home organizing session is where we work side-by-side carrying out the plan we developed during the planning session. This is a terrific option for you if you tend to lose focus or motivation during solo organizing projects. (Plus, it's a lot of fun and you'll get a whole lot done!)

I prefer to work with clients during the hands on process as I think this is the most ideal situation for you. It's the opportunity for you to learn valuable organizing skills you can use on future projects. However, I do make exceptions when it is in your best interest. For any project, during the planning stage, it is important for you and me to spend time talking about your priorities and goals. It is possible for me to do the bulk of the hands-on work on my own. If you have belongings you no longer use, need or love, you will need to decide what stays and what goes. Also, if one of your goals is to learn how to organize, you would need to be present for the organizing consultations.

Yes! After creating an organizing plan, many clients are armed with the ideas, inspiration and plan they need to tackle their organizing projects on their own. If you want to have a friend there to cheer you on from afar, organizing coaching services allow you to do the hands on work yourself, while having a partner to keep you motivated and on track.

For an in-home planning session, please resist the temptation to straighten up. I know this can be a tough one, but it's an important part of the process. I can help you best when I understand your current situation, exactly as it is. Please do try to minimize distractions during the consultation so we can stay focused and maximize the benefit of our time together. Otherwise, just be ready to engage in a lively conversation, dream about possibilities and take a few notes to jot down the ideas and inspiration we generate during our session.

For in-home organizing sessions, I strongly encourage you to make arrangements with friends, spouses, children, or clients to avoid potential interruptions. This will allow you and me to work in a focused manner and help ensure you get the most out of your organizing session.

If you’re like me, shopping for organizing products is a big part of the fun of getting organized! The natural temptation is to buy the products at the start of the project thinking the containers hold the key to getting organized. Often though, shopping before organizing can lead to buying products that are the wrong size or function. If products are needed, simplify 101 can help you select containers or even shop with you.

A good place to start is with the area that is causing you the most stress or anxiety. What’s nagging at you? Is it the pile of paper and bills on your kitchen table? Is it your car that hasn’t fit in your garage for over a year? Is it your hall closet that’s a hazard to open? If you aren’t sure where to start, working with simplify 101 may be a great idea for you. During the planning process, I’ll work with you to help you figure out your priorities and identify areas in your life that are getting their unfair share of your mental energy.

All organizing sessions - whether in person or via coaching - are conducted in a friendly, non-judging manner, and all your information is kept strictly confidential. I will sign a confidentiality agreement prior to our first appointment if you would like.

Yes! Gift certificates are available for all of simplify 101’s organizing services. However, please know that the decision to get organized is a very personal decision. If the person you have in mind for an organizing gift certificate has expressed an interest to work with a professional organizer, I’d love to be that organizer. If, on the other hand, the person you have in mind hasn’t already expressed an interest to you about getting more organized and working with someone to get there, I’d suggest starting with a physical gift such as an organizing binder to allow the person to a) get to know me, and b) warm up to the idea of working with a professional organizer.
